FINAL STATISTICS

EAST LANSING, Mich. - No. 4 Penn State (9-2, 3-1) got back to its winning ways Friday night posting a shutout against Michigan State 1-0 in a defensive battle at Ralph Young Field in East Lansing, Mich.

Not even five minutes had ticked off the clock before Moira Putsch scored the lone goal of tonight's game as Putsch took a pass in front of the goal from Aurelia Meijer and slid past the goalkeeper to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead that would hold strong the remaining 67-minutes of regulation.

Penn State saw four players battle on the field for the full 70-minutes including Skyler Fretz, Cori Conley, Bes Bovelander and Jenny Rizzo who posted yet another complete game in the cage for the Nittany Lions making five saves on the night.

No. 4 Penn State dominated on the stat sheet recording 21 shots to Michigan State's (6-6, 1-2) eight and earned 10 penalty corners to MSU's one.

The shutout was the fifth of the season for Penn State, currently holding opponents to 1.18 goals per game thus far this season.

Penn State will be back in action Sunday, Oct. 1 at 12 p.m. when the Nittany Lions take on Kent State in a non-conference contest Murphy-Mellis Field in Kent, Ohio
