FNC: PSU Women Start Off Temple Open Strong

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State women's fencing team started the weekend off strong for Penn State in Philadelphia. Head coach Wes Glon's team dominated each weapon on day one of the Temple Open.

The women's foil team started the tournament with freshmen Isabella Zuzulo (Newton, Pa.) and Sofia McGoff-Medero (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) finishing in third and 13th, respectively, and sophomore Alissa Gozali (Singapore, Singapore) finishing ninth.

The women's epee team was led by sophomore Yumin Wang (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) leading the way for Penn State with her 15th place finish. Not far behind were junior teammates, Anastasia Kalonji (Rennes, France), who finished 17th, and Nicolette Vigna (Thornwood, N.Y.), who finished 26th.

Women's saber wrapped up the day with three top ten finishes. Freshmen Kelli Wozniak (Westerville, Ohio) and Sara Cunningham (Decatur, Ga.) finished first and third and Junior DeAna Oliver (Montclair, N.J.) finished seventh.
