Oct. 8, 2017

Skokie, Ill. - The Penn State men's golf team is currently sitting in first place after the first day at the Windon Memorial Classic at Evanston Golf Club. Play being shortened due to darkness and three of the 15 teams in the field resume round two play tomorrow.

A 3-under team total 277 was good enough to give Penn State a two-stroke lead after day one, moving up from sixth place. The Nittany Lions made even par (280) in round one. All five Penn State players are in the top 50 in the 84-man field.

Leading the way for the Blue and White was junior Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) who fired rounds of 1-over 71 and 3-under 67 and is in a tie for third place individually at 2-under.

Senior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) and sophomore Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) both shot rounds of even par 70 and 1-under 69 to finish Sunday tied for sixth individually.

Junior Ryan Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) opened up the tournament with a 1-under 69 followed by a 3-over 73. Dornes is tied for 22nd at 2-over.

The second round will resume on Monday at 8:30 a.m. ET. At the conclusion of round two, pairings will be set for the third and final round and a shotgun start will tee off at approximately 11 a.m. Live scoring is available here.
