MTN: Lions Wrap Up Fall Season at William & Mary Invite

Nov. 1, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State Nittany Lions will head to Williamsburg, Va., this weekend to compete in their final tournament of the fall season. The William & Mary Invite will be played in the Millie West Tennis Facility Friday, Nov. 3, through Sunday, Nov. 5.

There will be four Nittany Lions competing at the tournament. Juniors Ben Lieb (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Matt Galush (Cary, N.C.) as well as sophomores Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil) and Noah Sutter (New York, NY) will see action this weekend.

Penn State has had success during its tournament run so far this fall and hopes to continue that pattern in Williamsburg. Because this is the final tournament of the fall circuit, the results will have an impact on lineup positions for the spring dual season.

"We are sending these four players to compete against teams from VCU, Old Dominion, Harvard and William & Mary," said head coach Jeff Zinn. "We are trying to get these players more matches to see how they will respond and see where they will fit into our lineup in the spring. We are looking at doubles combinations and how they will play with different partners for the duration of the competition. We had a lot of success at the beginning of the fall season and we are hopeful that we can finish the fall season on a high note leading into winter break."

"This should be a strong event," said associate head coach Paul Tobin. "This is a dual format so it's going to give our guys a chance to compete in their respective roster spots."
