UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio) and Megan Schafer (Langhorne, Pa.) have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Two First Team, as announced on Thursday. First Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.
This is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District Two First Team plaudit for both Ogle and Schafer.
In the classroom, Ogle has a 3.99 grade-point average (GPA) as a kinesiology major, while Schafer has a 3.71 GPA as a communication science and disorders major.
Ogle, a redshirt junior midfielder, has started all 20 matches and has 11 points on four goals and three assists in 2017. During her time as a Nittany Lion, Ogle has started 71-of-71 matches, has scored 14 goals and tallied 14 assists. The 2015 season saw Ogle garner Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors.
Schafer, a senior forward, has started all 20 matches in 2017, and has 13 points on five goals and three assists this season. In her career donning the Blue & White, she has played in 92 matches, which includes 73 starts, scored 30 goals, and recorded 17 assists. For her work in the classroom, Schafer is a two-time recipient of Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors.
The No. 10 Nittany Lions host the Stony Brook Seawolves on Friday, Nov. 10, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The match is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start at Jeffrey Field.
