UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - No. 9 Penn State swept past Harvard 3-0 (29-27, 25-14, 25-18) Saturday afternoon in the South Gym of Rec Hall.

"I thought the way we came out today was a continuation of all the good stuff we did yesterday," said head coach Mark Pavlik.

"Game one I don't think we were as sharp offensively, I think those errors kept them in the game but our serving was what won the match again for us tonight," Pavlik continued. "The physicality of our serving really knocked them off the net... all-in-all I also thought it was a pretty good defensive match for us."

Penn State (8-2, 3-0) allowed Harvard (1-8, 1-2) to stick around with a few self-inflicting errors as the Nittany Lions spotted the Crimson 14-points by way of attack errors and service errors, but the Lions continued to battle, and in the end their serving was the key to the set win as Luke Braswell used an opportunity at the service line to ace Harvard and take the set 29-27.

Penn State extended its match lead to 2-0 following a 25-14 trouncing of the Crimson in set two and capped the match with a 25-18 win in set three to complete the sweep.

Jalen Penrose, the Mike Anderson Player of the Game finished with 10 kills, four service aces, two digs and five blocks. Also registering double-digit kills was Matthew McLaren who posted 11 of his own. Mende capped his comeback weekend by adding six kills on 15 swings hitting .333 while adding five digs and four blocks.

Penn State continues EIVA conference play Fri. 23 when the George Mason Patriots head to town for a 7 p.m. ET matchup in Rec Hall followed by a Saturday night brawl with the Charleston (WV) Golden Eagles set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
