WGolf Takes Ninth at UCF Invitational

Orlando, Fla. - The Penn State women's golf team moved up to spots to finish the UCF Challenge tied for ninth. The team shot two-over 290 in the third round to end the tournament with a three-round score of 888 (plus-24).

Miami took first place overall with a three-round score of 868 (plus-four). Miami's Dewi Weber shot seven-under taking individual first place.

Junior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) ended the third round one-under leaving her in the top 20, tied for 16th, with a three-round score of 220 (+4). Basso had an eagle on hole four, as well as three birdies on the back nine in the third round today.

Fellow junior, Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) also shot one-under in round three. Her three-round score of 222 (plus-six) bumped her up the leaderboard to tie for 24th place. Waller contributed three birdies to the team count.

Junior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) and sophomore Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) both shot 73 (plus-one) in the third round of play today. Rogowicz's 223 (plus-seven) landed her tied for 29th while McLean's 229 (plus-13) left her tied for 67th. The ladies brought in a combined six birdies.

Sophomore Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) shot eight-over 224 in three rounds to finish tied for 37th. Herr tallied three birdies in round three.

Junior Kamerine Taylor (Dublin, Ohio) and freshman Olivia Zambruno had three-round scores of 235 (plus-19) and 241 (plus-25) respectfully.

"I was proud of the team coming out and improving on the previous round," said Head Coach Denise St. Pierre, "Closing the tournament with two-over par in the third round and climbing up a couple of spots was great."

Penn State rounded out the tournament with two eagles and 46 birdies for a total birdie count of 245 this season. There is still time to make a pledge to Birdies For The Heart by visiting HERE.
