Women's Golf Postpones Birdies for the Heart Campaign

UPDATE MARCH 30, 2020: "We are all deeply saddened by the abrupt end to our season and recognize how recent events are affecting all of us in different ways.  Due to these concerns, we will not be collecting pledges for our Birdies for the Heart campaign.  We ask that you direct your pledges, if you wish, to anyone you know who may need help at this time. Thank you from our entire team for your support and encouragement all year long.  We look forward to next season with anticipation and new hope for great things to come! We Can, We Will, We Are!" - Head Coach Denise St. Pierre.

University Park, Pa.-
The Penn State women's golf team has partnered with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to raise money for the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center through their new campaign, Birdies for the Heart.

Birdies for the Heart is a year-long pledge campaign allowing fans to pledge a monetary donation of their choice, per birdie made by a member of the women's golf team. The campaign is now in its second season and is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for women's heart health.

Until recently, treatment for heart disease was based off the medical research performed only on men, however heart disease kills more women than men each year. The Streisand Women's Heart Center is at the forefront of heart research and heart healthy education for women.

The Nittany Lions want to #BePartOfTheSolution by raising money to benefit the efforts of the Streisand Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Last season Penn State recorded 347 birdies raising a total of $8,147 and they look to improve on that number for 2018-19 and hit their $10,000 goal.

So far this season the Nittany Lions have registered 203 birdies and they are continuously looking for new pledges. If interested fill out THIS FORM.

The team is looking to further their efforts to raise awareness and funds throughout their spring season, beginning in February.
