HONOLULU, Hawai'i - Penn State took the court for the final time in the Outrigger Invitational taking on the Lewis Flyers Saturday night in the Stan Sheriff Center. Lewis outlasted Penn State 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 22-25, 22-25).
Four Nittany Lion finished with double-digit kills against the Flyers led by Aidan Albrecht's 19. Kyle Mackiewicz finished second on the team with 15 followed by Matt McLaren's 12 and Jason Donorovich's 10. Donorovich finished with a line of 10-0-12 hitting .833 on the night to lead all hitters.
As a team, Penn State finished with six service aces led by Penrose's two from behind the service line.
Nathan Smith made his season debut for the Nittany Lions posting a match-high 42 assists, as well as earning an ace of his own from the service line.
With the loss, Penn State stands at 10-7 on the season.
Penn State returns to action Mar. 16 as the Nittany Lions host the defending NCAA Champion Ohio State Buckeyes in Rec Hall at 7 p.m. ET.
