UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 48 Penn State men's tennis team took on No. 42 Princeton at the Indoor Tennis Center today. The Lions battled tough throughout the match and came out victorious defeating the Tigers, 4-3.

In doubles, the team came out with two wins. Matt Galush (Cary, N.C.) and Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario) outmatched Ryan Seggerman and Payton Holden, 6-3. Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) and Gabriel Nemeth's (Brasilia, Brazil) synchronized net play led them to a 6-3 win over Kial Kaiser and Jimmy Wasserman. Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece) and Alp Sentay (Izmar, Turkey) rallied from a 4-1 deficit against Luke Gamble and Damian Rodriguez, but their match went unfinished, 4-4.

The team fought hard in singles going 3-3. Lakoseljac's dominant serve and precision shots led him to a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Kaiser. No. 94 De La Bassetiere had a close first set but found his rhythm in the second defeating Seggerman, 7-6 (6), 6-3. Galush clinched the match for the Lions with two back-to-back service aces in tiebreak that propelled him to a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5) win.

Nemeth rallied in both sets, but was ultimately defeated by Luke Gamble 7-6 (1), 7-6 (6). Antonopoulos came back after being down 6-2 in match tiebreak, but Rodriguez came out with the win, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8). Davey Roberts outmatched Sentay, 6-3, 6-4.

"It's always good to be on the winning side of those 4-3 matches," said associate head coach Paul Tobin. " It could have gone either way and I have to give Matt Galush credit for staying calm under tremendous pressure. Princeton was ranked No. 42 coming into today, they are a good team, well coached; this was a good win."

The Lions are now 9-6 on the season and remain undefeated at home. The team is back in action tomorrow for a double header when they take on Michigan State at 1 p.m. and Bucknell at 7 p.m. at the Indoor Tennis Center.
