UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 48 Penn State men's tennis team faced Bucknell this evening in their second match of the day. The Lions defeated the Bison, 7-0.
In doubles, the Lions clinched the point on court one with a win from Alp Sentay (Izmar, Turkey) and Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece) over Andrei Vitiuc and Max McDonald, 6-2. Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario) and Matt Galush (Cary, N.C.) dominated their match knocking off Timber Erskine and Max Kane, 6-0. After the match was clinched, Zach Lieb (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Noah Sutter (New York, N.Y.) played a tiebreak at 4-4 and were defeated by Ben Gerber and Drew Krantz, 5-4.
In singles, the team went 6-0 with two matches won in pro sets. No. 94 Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) clinched the match for the team with his precision shots that led him to a 6-2, 6-4 win over Daniel Wright. Antonopoulos found his rhythm and outmatched Vitiuc, 6-4, 6-2. Zach Lieb dominated Adrien Crastes, 6-1, 6-2. Sentay struggled in the second set, but proved his talent when he knocked off McDonald 6-0, 1-6, 6-3.
The final two matches of the evening were pro sets. Kuhnle outplayed Colin Sacco, 8-4. Sutter won his match with ease against Krantz, 8-2.
The Lions are now 11-6 on the season and remain undefeated at home, 7-0. The team is back in action Saturday, March 24 when they take on Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
