UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Lauren Bridgens (Darnestown, Md.) and Briannah Tsang (Vancouver, British Columbia) have garnered regular season All-America honors from the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches for Women (NACGC/W). Both Bridgens and Tsang are receiving their first All-America plaudits.
"What an honor for Lauren and Bri," head coach Sarah Brown said. "They join an elite group of gymnasts that can call themselves All-Americans and they have worked so hard throughout the entire season. They have each proven their abilities week-in and week-out and I'm so proud to have the opportunity to coach them. This is such an exciting time for Penn State women's gymnastics and I couldn't be more excited for our future!"
Bridgens, a freshman, receives Second Team All-America honors on the uneven bars, while Tsang, a senior, is a Second Team All-American on the floor exercise. Both Bridgens and Tsang were named First Team All-Big Ten earlier this month.
During her first year donning the Blue & White, Bridgens was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week five times, tallied the first perfect 10 on the uneven bars in program history, and won 14 titles.
In 2018, Tsang has 27 titles to her name, received four Big Ten Gymnast of the Week plaudits, tied for the floor exercise title at the Big Ten Championships, was named the Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Year, and tied the No. 5 floor exercise score (9.950) in school history twice.
In program history, 29 Nittany Lions have combined for 96 All-America honors. Six Nittany Lion have been named NACGC/W regular season All-Americans, as the award dates back to the 2013 season.
Sharaya Musser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) became the first Nittany Lion to be donned a NACGC/W regular season All-American, as she garnered First Team All-America honors on the balance beam and Second Team All-America honors in the all-around in 2013.
In 2014, Kassidy Stauder (Palmerton, Pa.) was named a Second Team All-American on the balance beam and in 2016, Kiera Brown (Newport News, Va.) became a Second Team All-American on the uneven bars. Last year, Sabrina Garcia (Etters, Pa.) was tabbed a Second Team All-American on the uneven bars.
The No. 29 Nittany Lions will host No. 5 Florida, No. 8 Washington, No. 17 Arizona State, No. 27 West Virginia and No. 30 New Hampshire on April 7 in the NCAA Regional round. The meet will start at 4 p.m. at Rec Hall.
