UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- The Penn State women's tennis team will host Big Ten opponents Michigan State and No. 30 Michigan, this coming weekend. The team will take on the Michigan State Spartans on Friday, Mar. 30 at 4:30 p.m. and the Michigan Wolverines on Sunday, Apr. 1 at 11:00 a.m.
Penn State (6-8, 1-2 B1G) is coming off a tough loss against Nebraska. These matches will be the fourth and fifth Big Ten matches of the season for the Nittany Lions. The first Big Ten win for the team came against Iowa, 5-2, on Mar. 14.
Michigan State (12-4, 3-1 B1G) secured a 6-1 win over Wisconsin, the last time they took the court. This will be the Spartans fifth Big Ten match of the year.
Michigan (8-8, 4-0 B1G) last time out, defeated Purdue, 7-0. The Wolverines will take on Ohio State on Friday, Mar. 30 before traveling to play the Nittany Lions. Michigan owns two ranked singles players and a ranked doubles team. Kate Fahey is ranked No. 23 and Chiara Lommer is ranked No. 93 in singles. The doubles duo of Brienne Minor and Mira Ruder-Hook is ranked No. 53.
"This weekend is a big weekend for our team with Michigan State and Michigan coming in," said head coach Chris Cagle. "We expect both matches to be battles and we need to be competing at a high level. We only have two more weekends at home so we need a great crowd and great energy this weekend to help give us the home court advantage. It should be a great weekend of tennis."
Both matches this weekend will feature special promotions. Friday's match against Michigan State will be the Pink Zone match and Sunday's match against Michigan is the 800 strong match.

Next time out, the team will hit the road to take on Wisconsin on Friday, Apr. 6 at 4:00 p.m. and Minnesota on Sunday, Apr. 8 at 8:30 a.m.
