PENN STATE RETURNS HOME FOR GAMES WITH MSU
The Penn State softball team will play its third Big Ten Conference series inside Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field Friday, April 13-Sunday, April 15 when it welcomes the Spartans of Michigan State for a three-game league series. The Nittany Lions and Spartans open the series Friday, April 13 at 6 p.m. and play game two Saturday, April 14 at 3 p.m. Finally, the two teams conclude the series Sunday, April 15 at 1 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY WITH THE SPARTANS
The Nittany Lions carry the all-time series advantage, 36-27, but it Michigan State closed the gap in the 2017 campaign earning the series victory in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Prior the 2017 season, Penn State swept the Spartans at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field to start the B1G campaign with a perfect 6-0 slate. Head coach Amanda Lehotak is 9-3 all-time against the Spartans, having won the series three out of the four year she has faced off against them.
SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE
The Spartans are 14-19 overall on the season but have struggled since opening Big Ten Conference play as they come into the three-game series with a 2-7 Big Ten record. Michigan State is hitting .255 as a team with three student-athletes hitting above .300. Lea Foester paces MSU, hitting at a .358 clip with 34 hits and 14 RBI, while McKenzie Long is hitting .356 with 31 hits. In the circle, Kristina Zalewski holds a team-low 2.04 in 18 appearances and 85.2 innings of work.
ELLING WORKS THE PLATE AT No. 22 OHIO STATE
Sophomore Delaney Elling went a perfect 4-for-4 from the batter's box against No. 22 Ohio State and drove in three of Penn State's four runs in game two. Elling ripped a double off the left center field wall in her first at-bat before following it up with a single to bring in her third run of the day in her second time at the plate. This season, Elling has driven in 12 runs on 20 hits and ranks third on the team with a .238.
COMFORTABLE AT HOME
The Nittany Lions have seen four of their six wins come inside the friendly confines of Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field. Penn State picked up the series victory against Kent State before earning one win against Maryland and one win against Robert Morris.
ON DECK
Penn State remains at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field for a mid-week non-conference doubleheader against Saint Francis Wednesday, April 18 before hitting the road for a three-game Big Ten Conference series with Indiana Friday, April 20-Sunday, April 22.
