Third Round Of The Lady Buckeye Invitational Canceled

Columbus, Ohio- The Penn State women's golf team completes the Lady Buckeye Invitational in ninth place after heavy overnight rain caused the cancellation of the championship round.

Big Ten rival Illinois takes the tournament title with a two-round score of 579 (plus-3). Kent State's Pimnipa Panthong clenched individual first after a scorecard playoff with Illinois' Grace Park at three-under 141. Penn State shot 606 (plus- 30) overall beating out Minnesota, Maryland, Rutgers, Toledo and Seton Hall.

Junior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) lead the team finishing tied for 13th with a two-round score of 148 (plus-4). Junior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) shot a 151 (plus-7) leaving her tied for 27th overall.

Three Nittany Lions broke the top 50 tying for 46th. Juniors Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) and Kamerine Taylor (Dublin, Ohio) and sophomore Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) all shot 155 (plus-11) for the two rounds. Sophomore Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) recorded a two-round score of 163 (plus-19).

Penn State will return to the links to play for the Big Ten Championship in Maineville, Ohio Friday to Saturday, Apr. 20-22.

There is still time to join the team in their efforts to raise funds and awareness for women's heart health through their campaign, Birdies For The Heart. With five birdies from Basso and four from Taylor, the team tallied 16 birdies toward their season total.
