BALTIMORE - The Penn State men's golf team opened the Big Ten Championship with a team total of 4-over-par for third place after round one on Friday at Baltimore Country Club.
Leading the way for the Nittany Lions was senior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.), who fired a 2-under 68 that featured a bogey-free final nine holes. Miller finished his day with back-to-back birdies and is just one off the lead in a tie for fifth on the individual leaderboard.

Tied for 15th individually is junior Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) who also played a bogey-free back nine to shoot a 1-over 71.
Junior Ryan Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) will be available to compete for Penn State in round two on Saturday after JD Hughes was sidelined just prior to the first round of the championship.
The only team under-par in round one was Ohio State as the Buckeyes lead with a team score of 1-under. There is a four-way tie at the top of the individual leaderboard as each competitor shot 3-under 67 in the opening 18 holes.
