SB Suspended against Illinois Due to Weather

April 27, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State softball contest against Illinois has been suspended due to inclement weather in the area. The Nittany Lions and the Fighting Illini will pick up in the bottom of the second inning Saturday, April 28 followed by its regular scheduled contest at 3 p.m.

Penn State put two runners on base in the top of the first inning with two outs and junior Paige Johnson (Clarksville, Tenn.) came through with the big bat, lining a three-run home run over the center field fence to allow the Nittany Lions to take a 3-0 advantage.

The Blue and White were able to play the top of the second inning before a storm swept through the area and suspended the game with no outs in the bottom half of the inning. Sophomore Amanda Grieco (Basking Ridge, N.J.) will lead off to start the game on Saturday, April 28 with no outs in the bottom of the second.

Penn State and Illinois will conclude the three-game series Sunday, April 29 as it celebrates its three seniors prior to a noon pitch at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field.
