UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - For the fourth time in his professional career, Penn State men's volleyball associate head coach Colin McMillan will represent USA Volleyball, this time as an assistant coach with the 2018 U.S. Boys' Youth National Training Team.

"To see our coaching staff actively involved with growing the game of men's volleyball is an amazing thing," said Penn State men's volleyball head coach Mark Pavlik. "It is always great when our staff or student-athletes get the opportunity to represent USA Volleyball and Colin is extremely deserving of this opportunity. He is a talented volleyball mind and that will be a huge asset to the young athletes he will be working with, just as it is with our student-athletes at Penn State."

In his fourth tour with USA Volleyball, he will help guide the U.S. Boys Youth National Team in the NORCECA U19 Continental Championship on June 6-10 in Costa Rica. That event will be a qualifier for the 2019 FIVB U19 World Championship. McMillan has two previous coaching stints with USA Volleyball, spending 2009-10 cycle as an assistant with the U.S. Men's Junior National Team and the 2011-12 cycle as an assistant and head coach for the U.S. Boys Youth National Team.

"Representing the USA in international competition is an honor that I treasure," said McMillan. "Being a part of this great staff and guiding these young men that are the future of USA Volleyball will be exciting and rewarding, while also providing an opportunity to learn and grow as a coach."

He was also a head coach with USA Volleyball at the 2014 Youth A1 National Training Program that worked with some of the athletes that competed in the 2015 U.S. Pan American Cup.

During the 2010 NORCECA Junior Men's Volleyball Championships in Gatineau, Canada, McMillan helped the U.S. team to its first NORCECA title in the events in its history, which began in 1998. At the 2011 World Junior Championships in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, McMillan served as an assistant and then head coach for the fourth-place finishing U.S. squad.

In his 11th season on staff at Penn State, McMillan helped Penn State claim the 2008 NCAA Championships, win 10 EIVA regular season crowns and aided the Nittany Lions to nine NCAA Tournament appearances. McMillan has helped tutor 23 all-conference performers (53 occasions), while six Nittany Lions have earned nine first-team All-America honors during his time on the University Park campus.

McMillan was a four-time All-MIVA selection and a four-year scholar-athlete while at Ohio State, he owns the Buckeyes career hitting percentage record (.481) and total blocks (548). Named to the 2000 National Collegiate Championship All-Tournament Team, McMillan led the Buckeyes to a national runner-up finish that season.
