June 28, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Alisa Goler, a three-time All-American at the University of Georgia, has joined the Penn State softball staff as an assistant coach, as announced by head coach Amanda Lehotak on Thursday.

"I am very excited to add Alisa to our Penn State softball staff," said head coach Amanda Lehotak. "She had a very decorated playing career at Georgia and in the NPF, and was able to carry that success to Syracuse. She understands the competitive culture we have here at Penn State and will immediately begin to make a positive impact on our program."

Goler joins the Nittany Lions from Syracuse where she spent three seasons with the Orange, most recently as the associate head coach. Goler served as the infield and hitting coach as well as the recruiting coordinator for the Orange.

Under Goler's direction, the Orange set three new single-season team offensive records in the 2017 season, including batting average (.307), hits (433), and on-base percentage (.388). The 2017 season also saw a new single-season record for fielding percentage (.976).

At Syracuse, Goler helped coach 2017 NFCA All-American Sydney O'Hara who boasted a .476 batting average, .626 on-base percentage and .833 slugging percentage to set new single-season Orange records. In the 2018 season, Goler helped junior Bryce Holmgren lead the ACC in both batting average (.413) and on-base percentage (.549).

"I enjoyed my time at Syracuse and am grateful to Mike Bosch for giving me the opportunity to coach at the Division I level," Goler said. "I am thankful to Coach Lehotak for giving me a chance to join Penn State and a Big Ten program, and I am excited to work and learn under her. I look forward to continuing to build the competitive culture here in Happy Valley."

Prior to joining Syracuse, Goler served as the hitting coach and aided in local recruiting at Roosevelt University from 2014-15. Goler also spent seven seasons (2011-18) in the NPF (National Pro Fastpitch) where she was named Rookie of the Year in 2011 and was a two-time All-NPF Team honoree.

As a student-athlete at Georgia, Goler was a three-time All-American, four-time first-team All-Southeast Region selection, and three-time first-team All-SEC honoree. She set UGA single-season records for batting average (.455), slugging percentage (.994), on-base percentage (.551), home runs (24), extra-base hits (41), RBI (83), and total bases (164).

Off the field Goler was a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member and a member of the SEC Community Service Team. She earned first-team Lowe's Senior CLASS Award honors and CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team honors in 2011.

Goler graduated from the University of Georgia in December 2010 with a bachelor's degree in recreation and leisure studies and a master's of education in the same field in May 2012.
