August Events Benefit CVC Penn State

July 27, 2018

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Summer fun is on the schedule with two events in August benefitting the Penn State chapter of Coaches vs. Cancer. A portion of ticket sales for the Friday, Aug. 3 State College Spikes game and proceeds from the Saturday, Aug. 11 State College Brew Expo will be donated to CVC Penn State.

Since 1995, through annual events like these and other partnerships, more than $2.9 million has been raised by CVC Penn State for the American Cancer Society to support cancer research and mission programs in our local community. The goal is to surpass the $3 million mark in 2018.

Fans may support CVC Penn State by purchasing tickets for the Aug. 3 State College Spikes vs. Auburn Doubledays online at www.statecollegespikes.com, in person at the Medlar Field ticket office, or by phone at 814.272.1711 using the promo code #CVCNight. Coaches vs. Cancer of Penn State Night at the Spikes for Aug. 3 is presented by HRI, Inc. For each ticket purchased using the promo code, $3 will be donated to CVC Penn State.

Tickets for that night's 50/50 Raffle will be sold through the 7th inning. Tickets are three for $5, 10 for $10, and 40 for $20. One randomly selected winner will claim half of the raffle prize money with the other half donated to CVC Penn State.

Gates at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park open at 6 p.m. with the game starting at 7:05 p.m. As part of the game promotions, the American Cancer Society will sponsor Sun Safety Night and will educate fans on a variety of topics with a table on the concourse with giveaways and brochures.

Four-legged canine baseball fans are also welcome on August 3 for Bark in the Park Night.

On Saturday, Aug. 11, Tussey Mountain Ski Resort will be the site of the 20th annual State College Brew Expo from 5-9 p.m. with live music by The Commonheart and Miss Melanie and the Valley Rats. Nearly 70 Pennsylvania brewers will offer a selection of craft beers with all proceeds from the event donated to CVC Penn State.

VIP tickets for the Brew Expo are priced $63.49 ($60 ticket plus $3.49 fee) and general admission tickets are $48.12 ($45 ticket plus $3.12 fee).

The VIP ticket, offers an "EZ-pass"-style entrance, a ride to the top of Tussey Mountain and access to the VIP area from 5-7 p.m. This special tasting area will feature several craft beers available only to VIPs. After 7 p.m., VIPs join the other event attendees at the base of the mountain.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the Brew Expo.

Tickets for the Brew Expo may be purchased online at www.statecollegebrewexpo.com by adults 21 years of age or older. State College Brew Expo attendees must be 21 years or older, with no exceptions, and printed tickets and a valid, government-issued photo ID for each attendee are required to enter the festival. The online ticket sale ends at 5 p.m. on August 11. Tickets may also be purchased at the door with VIP tickets priced at $65 each and General Admission $50 each.
