Goal: Optimize the health and performance of Penn State's 800 student athletes
- Organically develop the Penn State High Performance Institute.
- Help support and manufacture the best physically prepared and most resilient teams in the NCAA.
- Be nationally recognized for research and innovation and for challenging current best practice in all sports at PSU.
- Cultivate a winning mentality through the implementation of high performance thinking, the collaboration of all staff, coaches and sports, and the development of training environments that promote athlete health and wellbeing
Applied Health and Performance Science is an initiative designed to develop sustained success in all sports at PSU by optimizing student athlete health and performance. Our goal is to support all sports, challenge current best practice and ask the questions "what does it take to win?", "what does the world's best look like?" and "what can we do better?" Through the collection of sports specific data we will able to develop a granular understanding around the key performance indicators in our sports and what metrics we need to target in order to facilitate continued improvement and sustained success in areas of training and competition.
