#6 Women's Volleyball Tops UMBC

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 6 Penn State women's volleyball team topped the University of Maryland Baltimore County, 3-0; 25-11, 25-21, 25-8, in the Saturday morning match of the Penn State Classic at Rec Hall.

Penn State (2-0) put down 43 kills over the three set match, hitting .385 collectively.

Freshman Jonni Parker led the match with 11 kills, adding eight digs, two aces and a block.

Out of the middle, the Nittany Lions were extremely proficient. Freshman Kaitlyn Hord put down a 6-0-8 performance for .750, adding two blocks. Fellow freshman Serena Gray added seven kills with a .545 hitting percentage and one block, and redshirt junior Tori Gorrell added two kills, .333 and four blocks, including one solo.

Graduate student Taylor Leath had a well-rounded performance with seven kills, .300, six digs and six blocks, including two solos.

Junior libero Kendall White scooped up 16 digs, while setter Bryanna Weiskircher added six.

Weiskircher finished the match with 21 assists, three kills on three attempts and one ace.

Penn State will close out the Penn State Classic with a 7 p.m. Saturday night match against Navy in Rec Hall.
