UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- The Penn State women's tennis team continues its fall slate this weekend at the Cissie Leary Invitational, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Singles and doubles action will take place this Friday-Sunday, Sept. 21-23.
This will be the 22nd annual Cissie Leary Invitational. The event will take place at the Hamlin Tennis Center on UPenn's campus.
Four Nittany Lions will be hitting the road, with three freshman making their Penn State debuts. Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio), is the lone returner from last year's roster that will be making the trip. The three freshman, Gracy Hirsch (Cincinnati, Ohio), Sydney Weinberg (Winchester, Mass.) and Olivia Ryan (Victoria, Australia), will all be traveling to their first tournament.
All four players will be competing in singles and doubles. The doubles pairings for the tournament are, Rohrbacher/Ryan and Hirsch/Weinberg.
"It will be nice to see all four student athletes that are traveling compete in a tournament situation," said head coach Chris Cagle. "I know they are excited to get to play in their first event of the fall. I will be looking for them to build on what we saw from our play last weekend in Midland, Texas in terms of competing at a high level, being very coachable on court and looking to put into play what we have been working on in practice. I look forward to the weekend!"
Up next, Penn State will travel to the Hokie Fall Invite in Blacksburg, Va. on Sept. 28-30.
