UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 16 Penn State men's ice hockey team will be featured on national television at least six times during the 2018-19 regular season as well as at least three other regional telecasts as the Nittany Lions, in conjunction with the Big Ten, announced TV information and start times for most of its regular season contests on Wednesday morning.
Penn State will open the regular season with a pair of 7 p.m. contests against No. 17 Clarkson on Thursday, October 11 and Friday, October 12. Each of the next four weekends of nonconference play will also feature 7 p.m. start times for each game with the exception of the Saturday, October 20 contest against Niagara as well as the Saturday, November 3 game against Arizona State, which remain TBA. In an effort to allow our fan base to be able to watch the road football game while still being able to come and attend our home hockey game at Pegula Ice Arena, the athletic department is awaiting kick times for football before announcing these puck drop times.
Penn State's first road contest at Robert Morris on Saturday November 10 will also be a 7 p.m. puck drop as well as the Big Ten opener the following Friday, November 16 vs. Michigan. The second game against the Wolverines on Saturday, November 17 will remain TBA until a football kick time is announced.
Thanksgiving weekend sees Penn State travel to Ohio State for a pair of games beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 23 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 with both games being available on BTN-Plus.
The following weekend at Wisconsin, the Nittany Lions will have each of their games featured regionally on Fox Sports Wisconsin as well as streaming online via BTN2Go with start times being 8 p.m. eastern time each night.
Penn State then returns home for a weekend set with Notre Dame on December 7-8 with puck drop set for 7 p.m. each night before closing out the first semester with a trip to Wells Fargo Center to battle Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 15.
The Nittany Lions open the second semester of action on the road at Minnesota with their first national broadcast on Friday, January 4 on ESPNU at 9 p.m. eastern time. The conclusion of the series the following night with air regionally on Fox Sports North as well as streaming on BTN2Go at 8 p.m. eastern time.
Penn State returns home for a pair of games against Michigan State the following weekend on January 11-12 with start times set for 8 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, with the Friday night contest airing on the Big Ten Network.
The Nittany Lions then welcome Ohio State to Happy Valley on January 18-19 for a pair of 7 p.m. puck drops before heading to Ann Arbor to battle Michigan on Thursday, January 24 with puck drop slated for 7:30 p.m. Penn State and Michigan will then travel to New York City for B1G Super Saturday on January 26 for a 7 p.m. game on BTN at Madison Square Garden.
After a bye week, Minnesota returns to Pegula Ice Arena to open February with a pair of Big Ten Network games on February 8-9 at 6 p.m. After traveling to Michigan State for back-to-back 7 p.m. contests on February 15-16, the Nittany Lions return home to host Wisconsin with a Big Ten Network clash at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 22 before finishing the series at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Penn State wraps up the regular season the following weekend with a trip to South Bend to battle Notre Dame with puck drop at 7 p.m. each night.
