WTEN Travels to Hokie Fall Invite

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- The Penn State women's tennis team will head to its third tournament of the fall season at the Hokie Fall Invite. The Nittany Lions will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to Virginia Tech's Burrow-Burleson tennis center from Sept. 28-30.

Eight members of the squad will travel to compete this weekend. Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.), Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia), Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio), Frederikke Svarre (Copenhagen, Denmark), Chelsea Sawyer (Clemmons, N.C.), Gracey Hirsch (Cincinnati, Ohio), Sydney Weinberg (Winchester, Mass.) and Olivia Ryan (Victoria, Australia), will all be competing in their second tournaments of the season.

In singles and doubles play, Penn State will take on opponents from Iowa State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Radford, Delaware, James Madison and VCU.

"I expect us to build on our first two weeks of tournament play when we travel to Virginia Tech this weekend," said head coach Chris Cagle. "We will see a number of regional teams at this event and it will be a good test to see how our improvements are in match play. The team has done a great job in the first two tournaments of competing and putting into play aspects of their game that we have been working on at home. The test of good teams is how they continue to push to get better, so that is going to be a theme for the weekend. We are improving and we need to keep that momentum going this weekend!"

Up next, Penn State will have a week off from tournament action before traveling back to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the ITA Regional tournament, from Oct. 12-16.
