QUOTES: Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer

Ohio State Football
Head Coach Urban Meyer
Postgame Press Conference

vs. Penn State – September 29, 2018
Q: Two years ago here you had the ball with the chance of winning the game and came up short. This time your offense goes down and scores what does that say about Dwayne Haskins and what the team is doing right now?
A: The first half was awful, in a lot of ways. Give credit to our opponent because that's a hell of a team we just played. Ryan [Day] and Kevin [Wilson] did an excellent job making adjustments, protecting him, keeping him upright because when he's upright he's very good. Our guys made plays for him.

Q: The KJ Hill play. He's a guy that we always seem to forget. But he caught the winning touchdown. Talk about him and what he meant to this team as well as JK Dobbins.
A: You can list Paris Campbell in there and the unselfish play of Terry McLaurin and the offensive line started blocking those guys because they were blitzing. At one point it was seven out of 11 blitzes. That's 70-80% of the time they're coming after us. We started settling down a little bit running the ball. But KJ Hill, Paris and those guys have been doing it for a long time for us and we're playing at a high level.

Q: So much of the offense has worked through the first four games. What's it like trying to figure out what's going to work, in a place like this, against a defense that's due and out. What did you guys have to do find the right thing?
A: Hats off to the defense. They kept us in the game as bad as the offense was in that first half. They're a very good defense, but we were not blocking them and we were not pitching and catching a couple drops and being able to get the ball downfield. The halftime adjustments – give the coaches credit, they did a good job. We are an offensive-line-driven program and they controlled the game after we got going.
