UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio) joins Maddie Nolf (Omaha, Neb.) as a team captain of the Penn State women's soccer program. With her captaincy, Ogle is the 39th Nittany Lion to be named a captain in program history.
"Emily Ogle is a winner in every sense of the word," head coach Erica Dambach said. "She is the player you want on the ball when the seconds are ticking down and the game is on the line. She is more than capable of help lead this team to reach its full potential."
Ogle, a redshirt senior midfielder, has tallied eight points on three goals and two assists over the first 12 matches of the 2018 season.
"It's always an honor to represent the Penn State women's soccer family," Ogle said. "I'm happy to help this team in any way that I can."
During her time donning the Blue & White, Ogle has started 87 matches in the Nittany Lion midfield. As of Oct. 3, 2018, Ogle leads active NCAA DI women's soccer student-athletes in games played with 87.
In the all-time Penn State rankings, Ogle is tied for 22nd in points (52), 23rd in goals (17), tied for 23rd in assists (18), tied for second in penalty kicks made (seven), and is tied for 23rd in games started (87).
Off the field, Ogle garnered College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America second team honors in 2017 and earlier this season, she was tabbed as one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award.
Ogle and the Nittany Lions are on the road this weekend, as Penn State travels to Michigan State (Oct. 5 – 7 p.m.) before closing out the weekend at Michigan (Oct. 7 – noon).
