Women's Tennis Wraps Up Day One at ITA Regionals

LYNCHBURG, Va.-- The Penn State women's tennis team completed day one of ITA Atlantic Regionals, highlighted by two doubles wins and a win in singles. The doubles main draw began today, as well as the qualifying singles draw.

"It was good to get Regionals started today," said head coach Chris Cagle. "We saw some areas that we did really well in today and also some other areas that we will work on improving tomorrow. One major goal for tomorrow, is having a complete team effort with everyone that steps on the court. My definition of a complete effort is being mentally and physically ready to compete and navigating your way through the challenges that present themselves on match day.  If we do that up and down the lineup, then the wins and losses will take care of themselves and we will continue to be moving in the right direction. I look forward to seeing our team compete tomorrow!"

Singles

Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio) kicked off play for the Nittany Lions in qualifying singles. Rohrbacher took on University of Pittsburgh's Camila Moreno, falling 7-6(3), 6-0. In the back draw, Rohrbacher came from behind to knock off University of Richmond's Dessi Zlateva, 6-7(4), 6-1, 10-0.

Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) and Chelsea Sawyer (Clemmons, N.C.) fell to Sydney Green and Brianna Gibbs of George Mason in a tight match, 8-7(5).
