Smith Advances to Quarterfinals at ITA Regionals

LYNCHBURG, Va.-- The Penn State women's tennis team wrapped up day three at the ITA Atlantic Regionals, after a rain delay drove play late into the evening. Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) forced a third set in her final match of the day to move on to the quarterfinals.

"After being at the tennis center for over 14 hours today, we ended the day with Sammi [Smith] battling and competing to continue playing tomorrow in the quarters," said head coach Chris Cagle. "I give her opponent a lot of credit for playing great tennis. Sammi really hung tough and her composure and competitiveness came through in the end. The entire team has been working hard and regionals shows us where we are in our progress. I look forward to us continuing to push to get better and that continues tomorrow with Sammi against another quality opponent."
