Men’s Swimming & Diving Concludes Double Dual

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – Senior Hector Garcia Boissier swept the diving events and freshman Michael Daly earned a pair of top-two finishes to lead Penn State men's swimming and diving during a two-day meet against Virginia Tech and No. Ohio State Friday-Saturday in the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.

The Nittany Lions fell to Virginia Tech 155-98, and No. 10 Ohio State 250-103.


 
Nittany Lion Relays
Saturday, the team of Liam Veregin, Brad Johnson, Matthew Dinunzio, and Gabe Castano placed fourth place in the 200 medley (1:30.93), opening the morning for the Nittany Lions. In the 400 free relay, Castano, Will Roberson, Dinunzio, and Eben Krigger finished fourth with a time of 3:03.91.
 
On day one, the team of Roberson, Austin Wilson, Matthew Dinunzio, and Gabe Castano finished third in the 200 free relay in 1:22.50.

Top Individual Performances
On the boards, Garcia Boissier won both the 1-meter dive and the 3-meter dives. On day one Boisser, won the 1-meter with a final score of 366.30, and scored a 403.55 in the 3-meter Saturday morning. The senior diver has won the 1-meter and 3-meter in all three meets so far this season. Jack Crow had a good day on the boards as well, earning his trip to the NCAA Zone Qualifying, placing fourth with a score of 344.55.
 
On day two for the swimmers, Daly continued to have a strong first-year campaign with a first-place finish in the 400 IM (3:57.30), as well as a fifth place finish in the 1000 free (9:35.02) after an hour and a half fire alarm delay.
Castano also highlighted the Nittany Lions with a fourth-place finish in the 50 free (20.51).  Roberson followed closely behind Castano, placing fifth with a time of 20.60.


In the swimming events on day one, Penn State's best performances came in the 200 back, 200 IM and 200 fly with top-four individual finishes. Daly led, finishing second in the 200 back with a time of 1:48.47. Hayden Harlow placed fourth in the 200 IM (1:50.83), while DiNunzio did the same in the 200 fly (1:51.27).

Next Up
Penn State will travel to Princeton, NJ for the Big Al Open November 9 and 10, while select swimmers will swim in the B1G/ACC Challenge November 10 and 11.
