  • Penn State starting lineup: Myles Dread, Jamari Wheeler, Lamar Stevens, John Harrar, Josh Reaves. PSU is now 2-0 with this starting lineup.

Penn State Team Notes

  • Penn State's defense recorded three blocks and seven steals while holding its opponent to just 21% on 3-14 shooting from the 3PT line and just 39.7% shooting from the field.
  • Over the last three seasons, plus tonight's game, Penn State is 35-3 when holding an opponent to less than 40 percent shooting from the field.
  • Defense turned to offense for the Nittany Lions as they forced more turnovers (16 TO) than they committed (6 TO), recorded more points off turnovers (16 pts vs. 11 pts) and fast break points (14 pts vs. 9 pts) than their opponent.
  • The Nittany Lions' 15 offensive rebounds helped them to win the battle of second-chance points, recording 16 compared to the Gamecocks' 11.
  • Penn State won the bench-scoring battle outscoring Jacksonville State 30 to eight points, in large part due to Rasir Bolton's 25 point performance off the bench.
  • Lamar Stevens led the team or tied for the team high in points (25), rebounds (9), assists (3), blocks (1) and steals (2).
  • Penn State never trailed in the second half.

Nittany Lions Individual Notes

  • Lamar Stevens' 25 points was his 17th career game with at least 20 points. Stevens is averaging 23.5 PPG through the first two games.

  • Freshman guard Rasir Bolton scored a career-high 25 points in 30 minutes on 8-14 (4-8 from 3PT) shooting from the floor.
  • This was the first time a Penn State freshman scored 25 or more points in a game since Lamar Stevens did so twice in the 2016-17 season at Indiana (26, 3ot, 2/1/2017) and vs. Maryland (25, 2/7/2017).
  • Sophomore forward Trent Buttrick matched his previous career high for rebounds with five, in addition to scoring three points, and adding one block.
