Women's Golf Adds A Pair to 2019 Recruiting Class During Signing Period

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – With the 2018-19 signing period opening on November 14, head coach Denise St. Pierre and the Penn State women's golf team announced that a pair of student-athletes have inked their NLI's earlier this week as part of the 2019 recruiting class.

The Nittany Lions will welcome Lauren Freyvogel and Isha Dhruva, the sister of current Penn State junior Ashni Dhruva, to Happy Valley next fall.

Dhruva is one of the top players in the state of Texas having led her high school team at Seven Lakes to three-straight District Championships as well as a first place finish at the 2018 regionals and a seventh place finish in states. Dhruva was named team MVP for the 2017-18 season and also earned STPGA Player of the Year honors in 2017.

Individually Dhruva finished first in districts in back-to-back seasons including carding a personal best 66 to secure first place at River Ridge last October en route to a top-10 finish in the state tournament.

Freyvogel hails from nearby Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she recently won the WPIAL Class AAA Section Championship while competing as team captain for her Pine-Richland High School Varsity golf team. As a junior last season she captured the PIAA Class AAA State Championship after finishing fourth as a sophomore in 2016. In total, Freyvogel is a three-time WPIAL Class AAA Section Champion.

Freyvogel has also had a very decorated junior career with many victories as well as qualifying for and competing in the 2017 LPGA Symetra Tour Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women's Health Classic at the Links at Stoney Point in Greenwood, South Carolina.
