  • Penn State improves to 3-0 against Virginia Tech in ACC/Big Ten Challenge games. The Nittany Lions are now 3-1 against the Hokies when playing at the BJC.
  • Tuesday night's win vs. No. 13 Virginia Tech marks the Nittany Lions' first home win against a ranked non-conference opponent since Penn State defeated #10 Temple 65-64 on Dec 1, 1998.
  • Penn State has won each of its last six games when wearing its black and pink jerseys which pay homage to the institution's original school colors.
  • Coach Pat Chambers is now tied with Jerry Dunn with 117 wins, good for the sixth-most wins in Penn State history.

  • This win marks the 150th win against teams currently in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
  • The Nittany Lions are now 4-0 when leading with 5:00 to play and 3-0 at home this season.
  • Penn State crashed the boards, out-rebounding the Hokies 36 to 29. They are now 3-1 when out-rebounding the opponent.
  • The Nittany Lions grabbed 14 offensive rebounds which led to 10 second-chance points.
  • Penn State got plenty of help from its bench which accounted for 54% of its total points. The PSU bench outscored VT's bench 34 to 16, Myreon Jones accounted for 18 of those 34 points.
  • Nittany Lions improved to 2-1 when three players score over 10 points (Lamar Stevens, Myreon Jones, Rasir Bolton).
  • Penn State were 25-57 shooting from the field, good for 43.8% shooting. The Nittany Lions improve to a perfect 4-0 when shooting over 40% from the field.
  • Nittany Lions have won 46 of the last 50 games when holding their opponents to under 70 points scored.

 
Nittany Lions Individual Notes

  • Lamar Stevens' 14 points moved him into a tie with former Nittany Lion teammate Tony Carr on the Penn State career scoring list at No. 23 with 1,161 career points. Stevens also added eight rebounds and three assists, both Penn State team highs tonight.
  • Rasir Bolton contributed 11 points along with three rebounds and an assist. This marks Bolton's fourth game this season scoring in double digits.
  • Mike Watkins was a jolt of energy coming off the bench in his 2018-19 debut. Watkins recorded two blocks, three steals, and seven rebounds.
  • Myreon Jones had a career-high 18 points on 7-11 shooting coming off the bench, which led the team on the night.
