Women’s Tennis Sweeps Navy in Season Opener, 7-0

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.—The Penn State women's tennis team defeated Navy, 7-0, in its season opener, Sunday afternoon in the Indoor Tennis Center. This is the third straight year the Nittany Lions (1-0) have defeated Navy (0-1) in their season opener.

"For our opening match of the season, I thought we started off strong," said head coach Chris Cagle. "Doubles play helped us, winning all three courts. Especially with court No. 3 starting out fast and that took a little pressure off of one and two doubles. A fast start in singles definitely helped us. I saw some really good things and some things we are going to be working on this week. All in all, for the first match of the year I'm very pleased with how we got the season rolling."
