O’Gorman Shines in 6-1 Win Over Pitt

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- The Penn State women's tennis team outmatched Pitt, 6-1, in a battle of in-state foes. Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) defeated No. 76 Claudia Bartolome on court No. 1 to claim her first ever win over a ranked opponent.

The Nittany Lions are now off to a 2-0 start on the season and Pitt falls to 0-1.

"Obviously a good win for us," said head coach Chris Cagle. "You see the 6-1 score, but there were a number of close matches and I thought we did a really good job digging in and competing at the right times. Our girls have worked hard in the off season and I think their commitment shows in the results that we had tonight. I'm very happy with tonight and I'm looking forward to taking another step in our matches next weekend."
