Women's Swimming & Diving Sends Off Seniors With a Win

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's swimming team came out strong against Bloomsburg defeating the Huskies 141-111 Saturday morning in McCoy Natatorium. This marks the Nittany Lions final home meet of the season.

Nittany Lion Relays
Penn State saw a 1-2-3 sweep in the first relay of the morning. Nittany Lions Stephanie Szekely, Carly Hart, Maddie Hart and Heather MacDougall led the sweep of the 200 medley relay completing the race in 1:43.93. Close behind with a time of 1:44.17 were Marie Schobel, Maddie Cooke, Madison Ledwith and Katrina Kuhn in second place. Rounding out the sweep in third were Brooke Matthias, Olivia Jack, Marget Shelly, and Elizabeth Gaspari (1:45.38). Camryn Barry, Elizabeth Gaspari, Sadie Schumann and Kathleen Sheridan finished the 200 freestyle relay with a top time of 1:36.12.

Top Individual Performances
Senior captain Ally McHugh started the morning's winning-streak taking first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:50.12. McHugh also had the top time in the 200 breaststroke completing the race 2:21.66. Penn State saw a first through fifth-place sweep of the 200 free with Marget Shelly leading the pack, taking first place in the race (1:52.60). Senior Aleks Tulacz (1:52.92), reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Week Madison Murtagh (1:53.02), Carly Hart (1:53.13) and Kathleen Sheridan (1:55.79) all followed suit.

The Nittany Lions saw their second first through fifth-place sweep of the meet in the 200 back with Stephanie Szekely leading the five ladies in first (2:01.59). Marie Schobel (2:02.26), Heather MacDougall (2:06.25), Sadie Schumann (2:08.78) and Madison Murtagh (2:11.59) rounded out the top five. Szekely also swam the top time in 200 IM (2:05.12).

Penn State snagged a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 fly with Brooke Matthias leading the bunch in first place (2:03.83). Carly Hart and Madison Ledwith followed behind in second (2:04.63) and third (2:09.04), respectively. Matthias also logged the top time for the 100 Fly (56.84). Camryn Barry had two first-place performances in both the 100 back and free. Barry completed the back in 57.18 and finished the free in 52.18.

On The Boards
Christina Crowell finished out the 3-meter scoring 293.18 while Kamryn Umbel earned a score of 271.50 for the dive.
