UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's basketball team and the Penn State Dance Marathon will play host to the annual THON game on Saturday, January 26 at 4:30 p.m. Students from all campuses are invited to attend this special game vs. Rutgers at the Bryce Jordan Center with the entire $5 amount from each student ticket sold going directly to THON.
Penn State students may purchase their tickets in advance on the main level in the HUB (by the big screen TVs) from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. each day through Friday, Jan. 25. Tickets are also available at the ticket office from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays and beginning three hours prior to tipoff on Saturday.
The Bryce Jordan Center concourse will be filled with THON activities and information and Four Diamonds children and their families attending the game will be treated to a postgame carnival with the Penn State men's basketball team, Coach Patrick Chambers, the Nittany Lion and Penn State Spirit Teams.
Exclusive, Nittany Lion basketball "Dance With Us" T-shirts will be given to the first 2,000 Penn State students and will be placed on each seat in the Legion of Blue student section.
All Penn State students also eat free during pre-game, while supplies last, with meatball subs available on the floor level with seating and other concessions available for purchase nearby.
All Penn State students in attendance are eligible to win one of several televisions that will be given away during the game.
Penn State alumnus Stefen Wisniewski will be stationed on the concourse for fans to take pictures with him and his Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl LII championship ring. The first 1,000 fans entering the game will receive "Beat the Scarlet Knights" buttons and a photo booth will be set up on the concourse for fans to capture fun memories.
Saturday's game also features a halftime performance by the Firecracker Jump Rope team and following the game, fans are invited to stay and get autographs from some of the Nittany Lions.
Thousands of Penn State students – from all campuses -- will serve as dancers and volunteers for the 2019 edition of THON to raise funds and awareness in the fight to conquer childhood cancer. During the weekend of Feb. 15-17, the BJC will play host to this extraordinary event – the largest student-run philanthropy in the world -- in support of the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon and Four Diamonds.
To date, THON has raised more than $157 million to assist Four Diamonds provide care and support to more than 4,000 children and their families at Penn State Children's Hospital as well as funding innovative research.
Doors for the annual THON game will open to the public at 3:30 p.m. Enhanced security measures are in effect with metal detector screening added at entry points in addition to enforcement of Intercollegiate Athletics' bag policy.
