Women’s Tennis Hosts Double Header on Sunday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- The Penn State women's tennis team welcomes George Washington and Towson on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. This will mark the opening match of the spring season for both George Washington and Towson.

"We are looking to build off last weekend as we go into Sunday," said head coach Chris Cagle. "We competed very well last week and took away a good amount of information about our singles and doubles play. Now we are focused each day on how to keep getting better as this team is scratching the surface of what we can accomplish. I look forward to getting back on the court Sunday morning!"

LAST TIME OUT

The Nittany Lions are out to a blazing 2-0 start on the season, last defeating Pittsburgh, 6-1. Against Pittsburgh, Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) defeated no. 76 Claudia Bartolome in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.

LOOKING INTO THE COLONIALS

George Washington starts off its spring 2019 season with a match against Penn State. Three Colonials, Melis Bayraktaroglu, Sara Grubac and Victoria Kogan tied with a team-high five singles wins in the fall.

George Washington and Penn State last faced each other in 2006 with the Nittany Lions coming out on top, 7-0.
