Brisolari Earns Spot On Tewaaraton Award Watch List

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For her strong efforts on both sides of the ball this year, Penn State women's lacrosse senior midfielder Kayla Brisolari has been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.  She was one of 10 players added to the watch list for the award, which recognizes the top women's lacrosse player in the nation.
 
As a senior, Brisolari has collected 11 goals and five assists, sitting third on the team in points.  She leads the Nittany Lions with 19 ground balls, 29 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers.
 
Her top offensive performance this season came at Loyola, when Brisolari scored a career-high four goals.  It was her third career game with four points.
 
Brisolari tallied four points in a season-opening win over Towson, with a goal and three assists.  She collected two goals and an assist at Cornell, two goals against Albany, a goal and an assist against Lehigh and a goal at Michigan.
 
The Maryland native has six games this year with multiple ground balls, including a career-best seven against Lehigh.  She has five games with four or more draw controls, led by a career-high seven at Princeton.  She collected six draws against Lehigh, five against Albany and four each at Cornell and Loyola.  Brisolari caused a season-best four turnovers against Lehigh.
 
Last season, Brisolari was a third-team All-America selection by the IWLCA, an honorable-mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse, an IWLCA first-team All-Region selection and an All-Big Ten honoree.
 
The No. 23 Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, are 4-4 overall heading into Thursday night's matchup against No. 2 Maryland.  First draw is at 5 p.m. on ESPNU, making it the first ever nationally televised game in Panzer Stadium history.
