UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- The Penn State women's tennis team defeated Nebraska, 4-3 in Big Ten action Sunday morning at the Indoor Tennis Center. The Nittany Lions (10-4, 2-1 B1G) improve to a perfect 6-0 at home with the victory over the Huskers (8-12, 0-4 B1G).

"Nebraska might not have a Big Ten win at this point but all of their matches have been close," said head coach Chris Cagle. "You give Nebraska a lot of credit for staying in there and fighting and not hanging their head and then, we could do a better job of finishing as well. Our team did a great job coming out and taking the doubles point and being really strong in singles. It is good to get a Big Ten win, now we'll go to [No. 24] Michigan on Friday and we know it'll be a test and we'll be ready."

DOUBLES

Penn State claimed the doubles point, going 2-1. Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio) and Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) clinched the doubles point on court No. 1. Rohrbacher and O'Gorman defeated Vasanti Shinde and Marina Cozac, 6-3.

Chelsea Sawyer (Clemmons, N.C.) and Frederikke Svarre (Copenhagen, Denmark) claimed the other win for the Nittany Lions, defeating Jeannie Lozowski and Hayley Haakenstad, 6-3.

SINGLES

The Nittany Lions went 3-2 in singles play. O'Gorman joined Svarre in the spring double digit wins club with her victory over Shinde, 6-3, 6-3.

Sawyer gutted out a tiebreak in the second set to claim the win over Jeannie Lozowski, 6-4, 7-6(1) and clinch the match for Penn State. Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) won out against Jessica Aragon, 6-1, 6-3.
