UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Freshman Payden Montana has earned Big Ten Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors for her performance at the Arizona State Invitational. Montana earns the first Big Ten Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor of her career.
At the Arizona State Invitational, Montana competed in both the shot put and discus events. Montana recorded a personal-best throw in the women's shot put with a distance of 53-10.25 (16.41m). This throw ranks Montana first in the Big Ten and second in the NCAA. Montana also placed third in the discus throw at the Arizona State Invitational with a distance of 162 feet, four inches (49.47m)
The Berwick, Pa. native is the first women's outdoor field athlete to earn Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week honors since Dannielle Gibson on March 30, 2016.
The Nittany Lion track & field programs are split this week at the Raleigh Relays (March 29) and the Florida Relays (March 28-30).
