ANN ARBOR, Mich.-- The Penn State women's tennis team (10-5, 2-2 B1G) fell to No. 26 Michigan (10-4, 6-0 B1G), 5-0, at the Varsity Tennis Center on Friday evening in Big Ten action.
"First of all, I think you give Michigan a lot of credit," said head coach Chris Cagle. "They played a good overall match today. We saw some areas that we need to get better at as well. [Assistant coach] Alexandra [Anghelescu] and I believe in this team and know that we can continue to improve. We will get back after it in practice tomorrow to get ready for Michigan State on Sunday."
DOUBLES
Penn State dropped the doubles point against Michigan, going 0-2 in doubles matches. Frederikke Svarre (Copenhagen, Denmark) and Chelsea Sawyer (Clemmons, N.C.) had their match against Chiara Lommer and Alyvia Jones go unfinished, they were leading 4-3 when play ended.
SINGLES
Four Nittany Lions, including Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia), Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio), Sawyer and Svarre took on ranked singles opponents.
Svarre took a set from No. 36 Brienne Minor, and had pushed the match to a third set when play ended, 3-6, 6-3. Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) had her match against Anca Craciun go unfinished, with the score at, 2-6, 3-2, when play ended.
