UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's golf team travels to Columbus, Ohio, for the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate Friday-Saturday, April 19-20. Named for the late Robert Kepler, the Buckeye golf coach from 1938-1955, the event will be played on the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club, with a par 71, 7,455-yard layout.
Two rounds will be played on Friday, April 19, with the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament set for Saturday, April 20. Fourteen teams will participate in the 48th playing of the event with live scoring available here.
JD Hughes, Ryan Davis, Charles Huntzinger, Alec Bard and Ryan Dornes will comprise the lineup for Penn State in this weekend's competition. A recap and each day's results will be posted online at GoPSUsports.com.
"We understand the weather will take a turn from warm and windy through the practice day to much colder through the entire event," said Penn State men's head golf coach Greg Nye. "(The) Scarlet is a challenging golf course and we will use our experiences here to better prepare for the dramatic shift in winds and temperatures."
Penn State took home its eighth-straight top-five finish of the 2017-18 season in last year's Kepler Intercollegiate. Davis posted his first career top-five finish in a tournament as he tied for second with a 3-under 210 (71-69-70). Penn State has recorded two of its top three finishes at the Kepler Intercollegiate in back-to-back years with third- and fourth-place finishes, respectively, in 2018 and 2017.
The highest Penn State finish came in 2010 when former Nittany Lion Kevin Foley won the Kepler Intercollegiate with a 205 total, a score that ranks ninth among Penn State's individual scores in 54-hole tournament history.
The Nittany Lions head into this event after winning a fifth-straight team title last weekend in their home tournament, the Rutherford Intercollegiate. Davis finished third with a 3-under 210 (70-70-70).
