Ament, Sabia Earn Weekly Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's lacrosse team saw redshirt-junior Grant Ament and senior Chris Sabia honored by the Big Ten conference office for their role in the Nittany Lions' 20-9 win over No. 16 Johns Hopkins last Sunday.

Ament was put in a situation on Sunday where he was required to score rather than distribute based on the Hopkins defense, and he was able to put up a season-best four goals and added three assists to have a hand in seven of the Nittany Lions' 20 goals. The 20 goals were the most put up on Hopkins in 25 years, dating back to March of 1994.

Sabia was a monster on defense, helping hold a powerful Johns Hopkins attack to just eight goals, below JHU's average is 11.91, while he was on the field. Sabia caused one turnover but was responsible for breaking up many plays that didn't end up in the stat columns. Sabia also scored his second goal of the season on a successful clear attempt and he added four ground balls to his stat line.

Penn State wraps up the 2019 regular season with a 2:30 first face against Rutgers on Saturday, April 27. Penn State will honor its senior class prior to the start of the game. Nittany Lion fans are able to buy their tickets through Penn State Account Manager, 1-800-NITTANY, or by visiting the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office in person Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
