De La Bassetiere and Lakoseljac Earn First Team All-Big Ten Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 28 Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) and No. 91 Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario, Canada) earned First Team All-Big Ten honors after stellar regular season performances.

De La Bassetiere is one of four honorees to earn a unanimous selection by all 12 coaches in the Big Ten. He finished the year with an overall record of 25-6 and 19-3 in the spring season at the No. 1 singles position. He also owns a 9-2 record in the conference and a 10-1 over ranked opponents, including victories against the last eight ranked foes he has faced.

Over the course of the spring season, De La Bassetiere set a new program-best earning four Big Ten Athlete of the Week Awards. The previous high was set by Leonard Stakhovsky in the 2014 season, when he collected the praise three times.

Paired with Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil), the pair compiled a 22-10 overall record at the No. 1 doubles spot and a 4-4 record in the conference. The highlight of the duos year came in the fall when they were crowned the ITA Atlantic Regional Champions. They then went on to win the consolation bracket at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships and place fifth overall.

This marks the senior captain's fourth time receiving an All-Big Ten award.

Lakoseljac ends the year with an overall record of 21-8, a 19-4 spring record and a 9-2 record in the Big Ten. He is also 2-1 over ranked opponents, with his best win of the season coming against then-No. 30 John McNally of Ohio State, who joins De La Bassetiere as a unanimous First Team conference selection.

Lakoseljac earned two Big Ten Athlete of the Week Awards this season, including the first of the season and the first one for the program since 2014.

When playing with Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece), the tandem went 15-8 overall and 8-2 in the Big Ten.

This is the junior's first career First Team All-Big Ten award, as last year he won second-team honors. Lakoseljac was also chosen as the Nittany Lions' Sportsmanship award winner as a student-athlete who has distinguished himself through sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
