Softball Falls to No. 22 Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Penn State softball team (23-28, 6-13 Big Ten) could not get the bats going as they fell to No. 22 Michigan (36-11, 18-1 Big Ten) in five innings, 8-0, Saturday afternoon at the Wilpon Complex and Alumni Field.

Penn State's lone hit of the game came from senior Toni Polk as the lead-off hitter in the contest.

Michigan got on the board first in the opening frame, scoring three runs on four hits for the early lead.

The ranked Wolverines added a run in the bottom of the second after drawing two walks before tacking on four runs in the bottom of the fourth for the run-rule victory.

Michigan secured the series win with Saturday's victory but Penn State still has a chance for a victory as the series concludes Sunday at the Wilpon Complex and Alumni Field at 1 p.m.
