Nittany Lions Finish Regular Season With the Jim Thorpe Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State track & field team wrapped up regular season competition at the Jim Thorpe Open on Friday. The Nittany Lions travel to Iowa City, Iowa for the Big Ten Outdoor Championships next week.

Senior Devin Bradham carried the momentum of his performance at the Penn Relays into Friday's competition at the Jim Thorpe Open. Bradham set a new personal-best in the men's high jump. Bradham cleared 2.14m on his final attempt at the height to move to his attempt at 2.17m. Bradham cleared the height on his first attempt and set a new personal-best mark of 7-1.5 (2.17m).  Bradham would finish second in the competition behind Brandon Burke of Buffalo. 

Freshman Ryann Brundage set a collegiate best in the women's javelin with a top throw of 137-6 (41.92m).  Brundage finished first in the event with her top distance. 

In the women's 100m hurdles, Ekaternia Hupalo also turned in a collegiate-best performance, running 15.05 to win the event.

Another collegiate-best performance came from freshman Jack Zimmerman in the men's shot put.  Zimmerman's top throw traveled 56-5.75 (17.21m). 

The strong outing from the Nittany Lion throwers continued as Thomas Bojalad placed second in the men's discus throw.  On Bojalad's first throw, he set a new personal-best of 171-3 (52.20m).

Finishing first and second in the men's 800m, the Claiborne brothers each ran the top 800m race of their collegiate careers.  Isaiah Claiborne ran 1:53.77 and Elijah Claiborne ran 1:54.08 to set collegiate-best times.

The Nittany Lions begin competition at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 10 at the University of Iowa.
