2019 COACHES VS. CANCER ONLINE AUCTION
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Coaches vs. Cancer of Penn State has launched its 2019 online auction with more than 40 items up for bid to help raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society. The items with images and descriptions are online here.
In addition to the auction and upcoming Coaches vs. Cancer Golf Tournament, year-round events support patients and programs in the Centre region.
Among the items up for bid in this auction are items autographed by Penn State coaches Patrick Chambers, former Nittany Lions Josh Reaves and 2018 NFL Rookie of the Year Saquon Barkley.
Former Nittany Lion Joonas Suotamo, who played Chewbacca in the last two Star Wars franchise movies and in the upcoming release "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," donated an autographed, limited edition figurine for this year's CVC Penn State auction.
Pro Football Hall of inductee Franco Harris and College Football Hall of Fame inductee Lydell Mitchell have signed footballs for this auction and an autographed jersey from Pittsburgh Penguin and Stanley Cup winner Jake Guentzel is on the list of memorabilia available.
Exclusive experiences are popular items with the Penn State men's basketball "Coach for a Day" experience, offering a behind-the-scenes view of the Nittany Lion program and seats behind the team bench on gameday. Participation restrictions apply to the "Coach for a Day" experience.
A custom-made lap quilt in Penn State colors was created for this year's auction by the grandmother of a cancer patient in the Midwest and other one-of-a-kind items are available.
This year's auction features a week-long stay on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, while golf packages at the Penn State Golf Courses and tickets for sporting events can fit into summer plans. A signed special edition re-release of Pittsburgh Steeler Rocky Bleier's autobiography would be the perfect beach read.
Gift cards and gift baskets from local businesses and themed packages are just some of the other annual favorites are available for bid.
All bids for auction items must be placed before 10 p.m. ET on June 1, 2019. Registration on the auction site is required to bid on items and credit card information is collected to secure the winning bid. Arrangements will be made with the winning bidders to deliver or ship items.
Last fall, CVC Penn State surpassed the $3 million net mark and ranks among the nation's most successful fundraising chapters. In April, Chambers accepted the American Cancer Society's 2019 Coaches vs. Cancer Champion award on behalf of the CVC Penn State committee, volunteers and sponsors.
Upcoming Coaches vs. Cancer Penn State events are listed on the website at www.cvcpennstate.org, including the 23rd annual golf tournament Thursday-Friday, May 30-31.
