UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 25 Penn State women's lacrosse team earned three spots on the All-Big Ten team, announced on Thursday by the conference. Junior attacker Maria Auth, senior midfielder Kayla Brisolari and senior midfielder Reilly Masterson were all selected for the All-Big Ten squad. Senior Kelly Daggett claimed the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Penn State has 22 All-Big Ten selections since 2015.
Auth earned her first career All-Big Ten recognition. The junior leads the Nittany Lions with 42 points this season. She has collected 29 goals and 13 assists to go with 12 ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. In Big Ten play, Auth has a team-best 17 goals and 22 points. She closed the season strong with 20 goals and nine assists over the last six games. The Street, Maryland native has 10 multi-point games and eight multi-goal performances this season, including a career-best nine points, with six goals, against Ohio State and five goals at Johns Hopkins.
Brisolari was a unanimous selection, earning All-Big Ten honors for the second straight season. The team captain has recorded 30 goals, eight assists, 37 ground balls, 66 draw controls and 26 caused turnovers, leading the Nittany Lions in the last three categories. She leads the Big Ten with 1.63 caused turnovers per game. The Crofton, Md. native has 13 games with two or more points and 10 games with two or more goals. She has 11 performances with four or more draw controls. Brisolari was selected 12th overall by the WPLL Brave in last week's WPLL Draft.
Masterson was named an All-Big Ten selection in her first year as a starter. The midfielder has made a significant impact on the defensive end, collecting 18 ground balls, four draw controls and 16 caused turnovers. She caused a career-best five turnovers in PSU's win over Lehigh. Masterson added three caused turnovers vs. Virginia and two against Towson. She picked up four ground balls at Duquesne and three in each game against Lehigh and Northwestern. Masterson also added an assist against Lehigh.
Daggett, a senior captain, has tallied 12 goals, six assists, 16 ground balls, 10 draw controls and 14 caused turnovers this year.
The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, are 8-8 overall heading into their Big Ten Semifinals matchup against No. 1 Maryland on Friday. First draw is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Homewood Field, at Johns Hopkins. The game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network with the winner advancing to Sunday's Big Ten Championship.
