UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State track & field distance runners Kathryn Munks and Julia Paternain continued their success of the past track & field season into their summer months.

On Friday, July 12, Julia Paternain finished sixth in the 10,000m race at the European Athletics U23 Championships. Paternain finished the race in a time of 33:51.31 as she represented Great Britain. Paternain just completed her freshman season at Penn State and was one of five Nittany Lions to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas.

On July 7, Kathryn Munks represented the United States in the 10,000m race at the NACAC U-23 Championships in Queretaro, Mexico. Battling the heat and tough competition, Munks won the event in a time of 37:03.63. Munks' time was over a minute faster than the second-place finisher.

Munks and Paternain etched their names into the Penn State records books with their 10,000m performances at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships earlier this spring. Munks and Paternain rank second and third respectively all-time at Penn State with their times in the 10,000m.
